Telehealth is rapidly coming of age, as health professionals recognize its utility in providing care to individuals in rural areas who do not have ready access to the care they need. This field is growing in the United States, due in large part to the support of the Office for the Advancement of Telehealth, Health Resources and Services Administration, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Across the nation, programs exist that testify to the quality of care and education that telehealth and telemedicine make possible. The Telemedicine Information Exchange maintains a complete listing of known telemedicine programs.
